      Councillor Michael J. Selby

Biography:

  • Resident in Nork for 29 years

  • Educated at Wandsworth Technical College and served an apprenticeship with GEC

  • Served as an electrical engineer in the Merchant Navy

  • Worked for 20 years for LLoyds Bank in the City

  • Member of the Nork Residents' Association for 25 years, former Chairman, Vice-Chairman and currently Membership Secretary

  • Former Governor of Warren Mead County Infants School and Banstead County Junior School

  • Member of Council's Planning Committee

  • Widely travelled with interests in local planning, protection of the environment, gardening and music.

Michael Selby has represented Nork Ward on the Borough Council for 15 years. He has taken a keen interest in all aspects of local government but has specialised particularly in planning matters. His expertise was recognised by all parties from 1998 to 2000 when elected Chairman of the Planning Committee. His experience, together with our two Borough Councillors and one County Councillor, has demonstrated that party politics are best left out of local government.
